Life and Career of Hakeem Olajuwon

Hakeem Olajuwon also known as “The Dream” was born on January 21, 1963 in Lagos Nigeria. Hakeem was always the tallest in his age group. He really idolized basketball. Hakeem Practiced day and night. After High School Hakeem played overseas for the University of Houston. He achieved great success and impressed the scouts. Then Hakeem entered the 1984 NBA Draft. Hakeem was selected first overall in the first round by the Houston Rockets. Hakeem had a great first season leading his team to the playoffs. Unfortunately losing in the first round. After a few more years of no playoffs, Hakeem leads the Houston Rockets to there first ever NBA Finals appearance. The Houston Rockets alongside Hakeem lost the series in six games. After that the Rockets didn’t make the NBA Finals again until the 1994 NBA Playoffs. Hakeem after a hard fought playoffs lead the Rockets to the !994 NBA Finals. Hakeem lead the rockets to there first ever NBA Championship in seven games. Hakeem was awarded being the Most Valuable Player of the Finals. Hakeem went back to back the next season winning the NBA Championship for the Second time in a row. Hakeem was again awarded being the Most Valuable Player of the Finals. Hakeem was a 12 time NBA All Star. Hakeem was conducted to the Naismith Hall of Fame in 2008.
